If time travel were possible, would you go forwards or back? Hankering to that bygone era of romantic (perceived) great exploration, I would go back without hesitation, to follow in the footsteps of Darwin, Wallace and Stanley – but just as long as my cameras could come with me.
In today’s world there is hardly a square meter on Earth that can’t be reached, the only limitations are time and the depth of your pocket. And yet, thankfully, there are still remote places that conjure mystery, intrigue and even foreboding in a way that stoked the adventurous spirits of the explorers of yesteryear. One such place, in the heart of Borneo, is Maliau Basin – Sabah’s ‘Lost World’.
