I ran into this immature Black Hawk being perched just above my head when crossing a small bridge over a river in Los Suenos, Costa Rica. Two Kingfishers attacked the hawk a couple of minutes later and it flew away.
I thought I had seen the last of it but I decided to hang around just in case. It paid off as the hawk started screeching from a palm tree nearby. It seemed agitated and was screeching a lot before it took off again and I lost track of it. Poor raptors, they seem to have a stressful youth.
