I was in a photo blind on the Platte River in central Nebraska photographing Sandhill Cranes during their spring migration when the cranes all became skittish and decided to move away from our photo blind. It soon became obvious why they were not happy, as a juvenile bald eagle and a red-tailed hawk were sparring over breakfast.
I was amazed at the ferocity of the hawk, who did end up with something to eat.
