While out and about with my camera looking for birds in a favorite park, I stumbled upon this Golden Eagle in the shade of a tree feeding on a ground squirrel. It was relatively close and not in the least concerned by my appearance. I lay down on my stomach edging a little closer in order to frame the scene, but not so close as to disturb the bird's natural behavior and obvious need for a meal. I fired off multiple images until the bird had finished and taken flight. Although a little on the gory side, this particular image stood out as a favorite.

I am the photographer for this image and it is actually a juvenile Golden Eagle. Sorry for the error!
