The Laggar Falcon (Falco jugger), a medium-sized Bird of Prey, generally feeds on birds such as doves, gamebirds, small mammals, and also large insects. It can fly at a speed of up to 180 km. per hour for hunting.
Falcons often catch small birds in flight while hawks view their prey from a perch or from air high above, and then attack.
In this picture, a Laggar Falcon after hunting a Spiny lizard takes it on the branch of a tree and is busy gulping its prey with the help of its sharp nails and beak.
This outstanding moment of hunting by Falcon was clicked at Tal Chhapar Sanctuary Rajasthan on 15th October 2022.
