Hi, I am a Scottish Blackface Sheep. You will find me in the United Kingdom or somehow you might find me at a farm even in the United States. We are horned in both sexes and from my name Scottish Blackface Sheep our name suggests that we usually have a black face but sometimes have white markings and black legs. Our breed is mainly for people just to enjoy our delicious meat, and I do not want to talk about how yummy our meat can be.
Remember again both Rams and Eves are horned. In 1989 the UK loved our short coarse wool and now 40 percent of total wool production of Scotland and 1/12 goes to the USA. We are very Agile and sure footed and will eat brambles, thistles, nettles, wild Roses.
By being so agile we are unlikely to stumble or slip because our feet are tough. We come in many varieties of sizes smaller or heavier, but most of us end up having a heavy frame with a long overcoat of wool and a shorter undercoat of wool. We do love our heads because it is covered with wool looking like we are wearing a wooly cap.
Our Ewes will breed once a year and mostly produce enough milk to wean their lambs. Maybe if you are ever at the UK you can look for us, or you might just be lucky and see us at a farm just enjoying life.
