Hi, I am a Sandhill Crane, and many of you cannot believe how long our bills are? Our bills are important tools they are very sharp and sturdy for probing for food in dirt and even frozen soil. We have edges that are serrated to grasp slippery food like worms, and snakes and help us to slide them in to our mouths. We also use our bill when we are preening to help clean our feathers, and we do use it for a weapon when we are being threatened.
