Yes, you are right, I am a Bald Eagle. You will find me in all fifty states, except Hawaii. I am carnivorous and I love to eat fish, other birds, small animals, and even dead animals. I do love to grab food away from other birds and animals, too. I know this is not a nice thing to do. I am the second largest bird of prey in North America after the California condor. I measure up to 96 cm long, with a wingspan of about to 244 cm.
I am an expert hunter, and can fly and dive quickly for my prey. I am the national bird of the United States of America and it’s against the law to hunt me. People have said I am a symbol of pride for America. Congress almost listened to Benjamin Franklin when he said he felt the Bald Eagle is a dishonest bird because it steals food from other animals. But, somehow Congress did change Benjamins Franklin's mind, and I ended up being the symbol of power and freedom of America. There are over 60 different species of Eagles that live on this Earth, and only two of them live in the United States like me. You can find Eagles in Africa, Central and South America, and Australia.
I build my nests of sticks at the tops of tall trees or even cliffs. People will stop what they are doing and watch my majestic appearance in flight. You will find me near large bodies of water, because my favorite food is fish. I have excellent vision and very powerful talons which are my sharp claws, that help me catch my prey very quickly, especially when I am so hungry. I hope one day you will see me and thank me for being such a Cool Bird, with such power of standing for the people of America with pride.
