I saw this juvenile Carolina Wren taking a nap in the tree. Even though I am from Carolina, you can find me in other places too. If you hear me singing it’s not my female friend but a male singing away to attract a pretty female. When I sing it sounds like TEA KETTLE - TEA KETTLE - TEA KETTLE or PICTURE ME-PICTURE ME.
It is so easy to recognize me by the white stripe that runs above each of my eyes. It’s distinctive to see my tail up in one of my bird postures. I also have around each of my eyes, a white line. I think what is most unusual about me is my long, pointed decurved bill, which I use for finding seeds and yummy bugs to eat. One day you might hear a handsome guy like me singing his heart out for a sweet female’s attention.
