Hi, I am an Indigo Bunting, and people love the color of my beautiful blushing blue body in the summer, and brown color during the winter months. The female is brown all year round. The photo you see of me now is in the summer where my plumage is deep blue, which can look black in poor light. I am a small bird and very attractive, and you will find me eating small seeds. I am about 4 to 5 inches long, and a wingspan of 8 to 9 inches, and weighing 4 to 6 oz. I do have a small conical bill which means I have a bill shaped as a cone. When I feel threatened you will see me making visual uses and noises to communicate. Many times I will fly and communicate because I feel more safe in the air, than on the ground. When you hear me sing you know I am trying to get the attention of a beautiful female to mate with and my singing warns other males to leave my female alone. In the winter, grass and seeds, are the main part of my diet. However if I do find insects I will enjoy eating them too. During the breeding season I will eat seeds, berries, insects, spiders, beetles, and grasshoppers. It’s very easy to find me, since my blue feathers will be so easily to find. When you do stop and smile at me. I just might sing to you, just to surprise you.
