Belonging to Scyphozoa class at first sight it looks like an egg yolk, or rather a bull's-eye egg. They generally have a mouth surrounded by 8 arms and thin appendages. The color is brown. It feeds on plankton and the species are dioecious, with eggs that develop inside the animal. It is common throughout the Mediterranean, particularly in the Adriatic Sea, as shown by this image taken in Rovinj (Croatia).
For this shot I used a Nikon D7100 with Nikkor 55-300 mm lens without particular underexposure, the subject was quite close to the shore, to my position.For some years the tourists who frequent the coasts of southern Istria have complained about the presence of these species belonging to the Cnidaria phylum. Their body is called umbel and can reach a diameter of 35 cm. There is no stinging species, it plays an important role in the food chain and offers shelter and protection to other fish species. Climate change, high temperatures enhance the spread of this type of jellyfish.
