Hi, I am an Eurasian Eagle Owl. How you can tell it’s ME, is when you look at my face it sort of looks like the shape of a heart. I am a nocturnal bird and you can find me all around the world, except the polar regions. There are two different types of owls, barn owls, and typical owls. Barn owls have a heart shaped face, long legs and a big head like me.
The typical owl has a round shaped face, short legs, and a small head. You will find me up at night and that’s when I am hungry and looking for food. Check out my beautiful eyes. I have excellent binocular vision, that helps me to find food at night. My eyes look like they are facing out and are wedged in their sockets, and that’s why I cannot move my eyeballs but I am able to rotate my neck to look around me.
I have three eyelids, I use one for sleeping, one eyelid keeping my eye clean, and the other eyelids for blinking. Many people can’t find my ears, but I do have ears, they are slits on both sides of my head, just behind my facial disks. The only time you might see me is when I am sleeping high on a branch in a tree, or hunting at night.
