The Indian pitta (Pitta brachyura) is a passerine bird native to the Indian subcontinent. It inhabits scrub jungle, deciduous and dense evergreen forest. The woodland behind the Panchalingeswar Shiva temple situated on a hillock in the Eastern Ghats of Nilagiri range makes a comfortable adobe for this bird. But, one needs to climb more than 265 un even steps to grab a glimpse of the bird or photograph the "Navrang".
