Every year Amipur Dam in Gujarat India hosts 100+ pelicans during winter. Shallow surfaces and smaller islands within the dam are their favourites to sit, preen and chill. Especially during the morning, they bathe, keep opening their huge pouch-like beaks and sit. Once the winter is over and the water level gradually drops in February, they still remain there for some time. They sometimes sit on a vast open land and sometimes glide in the sky in their flock. This picture was clicked during such a moment when a group of great white pelicans was taking off for an afternoon sky gliding. It is lovely to watch them in Amipur Dam every year.
