The intense Yellowstone winter gets the bison to congregate near the hot springs or near the warm rivers that flow through the park. The frozen ice on the trees are an indicator of the sub-zero temperature and the snow accumulation highlights what the winter brings to this part of the world. The bison trudges through the thick accumulation of snow along the River Madison bank.
