Yellowstone National Park in winter is truly an magical place. The snow covered scenery is stunning and it's much quieter and less crowded than any other time of year. The conditions are harsh though, with temperatures below zero and frequent snow, photographing the wildlife there can be challenging but rewarding. I captured this image of this snow encrusted bull bison early one morning on the way into Hayden Valley. Spending time in Yellowstone in winter gives you a deep appreciation for the struggles the creatures who live there endure to survive.
